@mike Question i see recipes where you run your still fast then redo it again
so do u just cut the flame off open it up pour the liquor you made back into the wash left in the still? does this give you more liquor or higher proof? i am using a 5 gallon copper still..

    • NO, you empty your wash from your still. Then cut your product to 50% with water. Then redistill. I hope this helps you

    • I would not be to worried about it. It will slow down allot after about 1-2 days. If you still see your ferment moving, it is still working. I think your right on track.

@mike sorry for double post, not sure if I did it right. Hey Mike, was wondering how I can make different types of spirits by changing valve settings and runs to get the type of spirit I’m looking for on the Hillbilly Flute? So for example Rum & Whiskey vs. Vodka & Gin processes

    • mike replied 5 years ago

Hello, you can slow the water flow to the dephlagemater (reflux condenser) that will allow more of the flavor to come across and will also make a lower proof. Some even turn the water off completely and run it like a pot still. Let me know if you need more help

    • These flutes are pretty versatile. for whisky and such run it like a pot and don’t run the deflag.
