• I’ve made a mash and after a week it reads 0 % alcohol using a specific gravity tester. What went wrong?

Make small batches till you get it right. less waste. When you do get it right or close to right, invest in a charred oak barrel, it will give it a nice dark color and flavor it up like you wont believe. I bought a 2 1/2 gallon deep char on ebay for 100 bucks plus 60 bucks delivery to New York from Mexico.

Hi I’m Bill, a rookie distiller. Starting to get my chops down using oak barrels to finish my clear. This hobby it getting to get interesting.
Quick question for anyone, Should I stir or not stir my mash while fermenting?

    • I have never aerate a wash.. but I do however stir it really well when I start it to get plenty of oxygen in the water.

    • some people will tell you yes and some people will tell you no. I don’t because I don’t want to aerate my wash because I was always told air makes yeast produce chemicals other than ethanol. The next guy might swear by the opposite though
